DECEMBER 9, 2021 SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: WELCOME TO THE PAST – FROM DAILY MAIL: Joe Biden's commitment to blue collar workers has been called into question after his infrastructure tsar listed climate change and equity before mentioning helping industrial workers in a new interview. Speaking on MSNBC's Morning Joe on Wednesday, as Biden flew to Kansas City to promote the $1.2 trillion bill, Landrieu said he had met personally with 30 mayors and had reached out to every governor in the US to discuss the infrastructure plan. 'What the president's asking us to do is use this policy to rebuild the country,' Landrieu said. 'This is a three, five, ten-year proposal...Look, we're going to build a better America' 'We need to think about climate. For those of us that are from the south, we know this really, really well. Of course resilience, and building back in a way that's stronger and better. 'Also, for communities that have been left out, he said secondly, equity is critically important. We cannot leave anybody behind,' the former Mayor of New Orleans said Landrieu continued: 'Third, blue-collar jobs, so he wants labor involved in this in a big way with workforce training. And then he said he wants to rebuild America's industrial base by investing in Made in America products.' Yeah, right. Put the actual working people third. Put the fashionable issues first and second. Great way to lose the next election. December 9, 2021 Permalink
FUTURE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY? – OVERNIGHT: That's what he calls himself, although he'll first have to settle for "Mr. Mayor." Eric Adams is about to take over the Big Apple from Comrade Bill de Blasio, perhaps the worst mayor in the entire history of the universe. Under de Blasio, the "city that never sleeps" became the city where no one sleeps because of all the gunshots outside. And Adams is already making it clear that he's no de Blasio. From the New York Post:
COMMENT: He speaks as much to the nation as to the city, and it's clear that he has major ambitions. Good. I like ambitious people. But he knows what he has go do to demolish the catastrophic record of Bill de Blasio in New York, and to break the epidemic of crime. He's a Democrat, but don't be surprised if his party abandons him. December 9, 2021 Permalink
DECEMBER 8, 2021 SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – OVERNIGHT: INSANITY – FROM FOX: A California school district reportedly removed a link to resources that, among other things, outlined how to cast a spell on people who said things like "all lives matter." That content was included as part of a Google Drive for a "Black Lives Matter Resource Guide." A document on "Writing Prompts on Police Brutality and Racist Violence" encourages high school students to write a "curse" for police and others. "Hexing people is an important way to get out anger and frustration. Make a list of specific people who have been agents of police terror or global brutality," it reads. "This list can be wide-ranging, from small microaggressions to larger perpetrators (i.e., people who say ‘all lives matter’ to the police officers who arrest non violent protestors to George Zimmerman). Pick one of those people on your list." It adds: "Read Martin Espada’s poem 'For the Jim Crow Restaurant in Cambridge Massachusetts Where My Cousin Esteban was Forbidden To Wait Tables Because He Wears Dreadlocks.' Write your own hex poem, cursing that person." Another prompt asks students to imagine a world "with no police." What kind of future do these kids have? No future. And that is just fine with their "movement" leaders. The less accomplishment there is, the more jobs there are for the frauds and phonies that lead movements and run endless "programs" that always seem to fail. December 8, 2021 Permalink
BEST NEWS THE GOP HAS HAD IN DECADES – OVERNIGHT: It's the Hispanic vote, something the mainstream media would prefer not to mention. But it may well turn out to be the most important story of next year's elections. From Daily Mail:
COMMENT: What we are also seeing in the Hispanic communities is the impact of generational change. As a distinguished Hispanic broadcaster told me, young Hispanics don't want to wear Che Guevara T-shirts. They want to wear Brooks Brothers suits, and they are. They don't want to overthrow the system. They want to be part of it. A great development. But Republicans must never take a community for granted just because it is moving in their direction. Work for every vote, and run as if you're 20 points behind. December 8, 2021 Permalink

SIZZLING SITES Power Line "The left needs two things to survive. It needs mediocrity, and it needs dependence. It nurtures mediocrity in the public schools and the universities. It nurtures dependence through its empire of government programs. A nation that embraces mediocrity and dependence betrays itself, and can only fade away, wondering all the time what might have been." - Urgent Agenda
